It is an honour, and by no means a coincidence, to open the second edition of PPFFW with a film by Paul B Preciado. Rarely has a contemporary cultural creator been so influential to shifting the discourse concerning the politics of sexuality and new ways of interpreting it. Freely referencing Virginia Woolf, “Orlando – My political biography” is a journey through the meanders of contemporary culture, poetry, art, and art-activism practice. It is the apotheosis of emancipation, visibility and cultural rebellion – a mandatory position for all those needing support in understanding their own and others’ sexuality and, equally, anyone who for this very reason might become a political victim of patriarchal and conservative power. For many of us, this film has the power of restoring dignity and talking about freedom and joy.
After the premiere screening of the film, there will be a Q&A interview with the director Paul B. Preciado, moderated by Agata Araszkiewicz.
The screening is possible thanks to the courtesy of Gutek Film.
